چکیده

During the last decade, considerable efforts have been undertaken to achieve a “good ecological status” of European coastal waters and ensuring development methodological standards for evaluation this status. However, current routine biomonitoring implicates time-consuming costly manual sorting morphological identification benthic macrofauna. In our study, we tested performance environmental DNA metabarcoding targeting microbial communities meiofauna as an alternative traditional macrofauna-based monitoring. We focused on impact assessment offshore oil gas industry. used three genetic markers (18S V1V2, 18S V9 COI) assess pressures induced by platforms. All showed patterns alpha beta diversity consistent with morphology-based macrofauna analyses, significantly changing along distance gradients from The operational discharges was also detected variation biotic indices values, AMBI index showing best correlation between eDNA datasets. Finally, sediment physicochemical parameters were build local de novo pressure that served benchmark test potential taxonomy-free approach. Our study demonstrates approach outperforms can be cost time-saving solution monitoring in order monitor more efficiently industrial activities marine biodiversity.

Design for safety framework for offshore oil and gas platforms

Offshore platform installation is associated with several inherent risks arising from majorcritical safety challenges such as fires, explosions, blowouts, falling objects, earthquake, extreme weather, and impact from moving objects such as helicopters or ships. These critical problems are due largely to designerrors or inadequacies, and poor maintenance. The safety challenges highlig...

Evaluating alternatives for decommissioning California's offshore oil and gas platforms.

This paper introduces a series of 6 additional papers in this issue that describe an in-depth analysis of options for decommissioning oil and gas platforms offshore southern California. Although current leases require lessees in both state and federal waters to completely remove all production facilities and restore the seafloor to its pre-platform condition, other options have emerged since th...

Pragmatic Information Management For Environmental Monitoring In Oil And Gas

The oil and gas industry has an installed base that is characterized by local fragmented approaches for data management. Inside this information infrastructure, real-time monitoring of the subsea environment remains an unexplored arena that demands a cross-disciplinary and cross-organizational data integration layer. Semantic technologies have been proposed in the literature as a possible stand...

A multi-attribute decision analysis for decommissioning offshore oil and gas platforms.

The 27 oil and gas platforms off the coast of southern California are reaching the end of their economic lives. Because their decommissioning involves large costs and potential environmental impacts, this became an issue of public controversy. As part of a larger policy analysis conducted for the State of California, we implemented a decision analysis as a software tool (PLATFORM) to clarify an...

Temporal variation in environmental conditions and the structure of fish assemblages around an offshore oil platform in the North Sea.

This study reports temporal variations in the environmental conditions and the structure of fish assemblages observed in the vicinity of an offshore oil platform and the surrounding seafloor in the North Sea. Multi-seasonal sampling was conducted at a typical large steel jacketed facility, using mid-water fish traps at three different depths (i.e., 10, 50 & 100 m). Commercially important gadoid...
